Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

I had a 25 year career and found Camarillo's director was "HEAD AND SHOULDERS" over the director at Santa Paula. The people were all very helpful and encouraging at Camarillo, the level of authority and knowledge was great with both volunteer and the paid working staff. That's a great sign of good management from the director on down.

I was extremely pleased with how well treated and documented my adopted dog was there. I got a comprehensive report on all the treatment times, vet, and explanation of the treatment. She was injured when she came to Camarillo and I've had her healthy and happy since (except she's allergic to weeds on the bike path, so we visit the parks and neighborhoods now!) .

I visited Camarillo's Shelter after I was first "rejected" from adopting a "pit" in another 'Ventura' co. shelter. The first place said, I was too old a woman (67 yr.) to adopt a female pit. I recovered from the INSULT a couple days later and got a beautiful female PIT and I have owned Princess Grace for about a YEAR now!! I dare anyone try to take her away! She snuggles nightly on my lap for an hour or more. She walks perfectly in the park and obeys me VERY well. I had to work to develop her trust ~ previous owners didn't. I had a 110% GREAT experience with Camarillo and would love to get another dog from them in a few years when Princess gets old. She would have a companion to love her too. I highly recommend Camarillo for matching me and my "doggie-daughter", having her checked out by their vet, answered all my questions and I could not be happier with Camarillo's VCAS. You've GOT to go there, you will love the dogs!
