Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in New York
(report broken link)
AdvoCat Rescue grew out of network of rescuers on a social media site. Some cat loving locals would come together when a stray cat or a litter of kittens needing rescue would show up in the neighborhoods of Forest Hills, Rego Park, and Kew Gardens Queens. Eventually the group decided to make it official and AdvoCat Rescue was born.
Now we have a wonderful network of fosters, transporters, socializers and adopters that help cats all get the medical care and loving homes they need and deserve.
Our main focus is placing cats in suitable and loving homes. Most of our cats and kittens come from either the streets or municipal kill shelters. By pulling a cat from a shelter, it creates space in the shelter so that another cat can be rescued.
Often cats that are found in community colonies are abandoned friendly cats and are well-suited to return to the good life as a companion pet. If they hadn't been fixed (often is the case with dumped animals) there will be kittens. We arrange to have cats and kittens like this trapped (if they are too scared to pick up), vetted, and if suitable for adoption, they will go to foster homes while we seek out a purrfect furever home for them.
