Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Our Mission Statement
The North Country Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NCSPCA) in Essex County, NY, provides refuge for cats and dogs who have been surrendered, abandoned or abused. Our mission is to relieve their suffering and create a community in which animals are respected and valued. We are a no-kill shelter that gives each animal individual attention, medical treatment and compassionate daily care until a loving home can be found. We educate the public about the proper care of pets and work with law enforcement authorities to prevent and respond to cases of animal cruelty.
