Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Inc.
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Inc. (dba NY Abandoned Angels Rescue) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Cocker Spaniels and other dogs in need of loving forever homes. We will not reject any dog due to age or health reasons and often accept dogs with temperament and/or medical issues. We rely solely on donations whether through adoptions or the generosity of the public to help pay for the veterinary care of sick, physically disabled, and behaviorally challenged dogs. AACSR has saved approximately 3,300 dogs, including 200 dogs in 2012, 140 dogs in 2013, 185 in 2014, 175 dogs in 2015, and 125 in 2016. We are a proud member of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals.
Given our limited resources, we give priority to Cocker Spaniels and other dogs in local kill shelters that are in danger of being destroyed. We also accept owner surrenders on a space available basis, and request a surrender fee reflecting whether the dog has been spayed or neutered, is up to date with vaccinations, and has any chronic health problems. Some of our adoptable dogs also come from puppy mills or breeders across the country who wish to downsize.
Each of our dogs has been spayed or neutered, is up to date with vaccinations, on heartworm, flea and tick preventative and has been vetted by our wonderful vet. We are tremendously grateful for his help with our dogs, the care he shows our Abandoned Angels, and the love and attention provided to each of our dogs by our vet and his caring and dedicated staff.
We seek forever homes where our Abandoned Angels will be cherished and valued family members for the rest of their lives. We carefully evaluate not just a prospective adopter's interaction with the dog, but also the dog's interaction with his or her prospective adopter. A home visit may be required. We prefer adopters who have experience with Cockers and/or have previously owned a dog, but do adopt to first-time dog owners.
