Tails of the Unwanted
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Tails of the Unwanted is a 501c3 non-profit organization that operates in North Carolina. We rescue dogs and cats from high kill shelters and from our community when their owner can no longer care for them. We do not rescue a` specific breed and focus on the animals that are truly in need of rescue based on their current living situation or medical condition. Once an animal comes into our rescue, they are placed in a foster home, where they are treated like one of the family and learn to be a good family member. During this time, they are taken to the vet for vaccinations, neutered or spayed and receive all necessary medical treatment. Our dogs are in foster homes in North and South Carolina. We will adopt to families in North Carolina and in counties in South Carolina that border the Charlotte, NC area.
