Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

We are an official 501© (3) no kill shelter located in rural southern Indiana. in January of 2007 we began to open our doors to the many homeless and abandoned dogs here in Jackson County, offering them a temporary home, food, shelter and health care along with a gentle touch, a kind word, and a chance to find a new family to love. Our kennels now provide a temporary sanctuary to mixed breed dogs of every size and variety who find their way to our shelter by way of kind and caring citizens of our community.

We always have a variety of rescued dogs and puppies available for adoption. You can view some of our recently rescued dogs at www.redsky.petfinder.com

Visitors are welcomed (by appointment) and we'd love to show you around and introduce you to the dogs and puppies we have rescued!

    I just got my dog at Redsky in Medora Ind. Great place very caring staff ,my dog was very well maintained and ready to go love her very much . I recommend this place to anyone looking for a forever home for a pet .

  • I have 9 pups, 6 weeks old, mother has stopped feeding them, need homes for them immediatly. Super cute, lab/boxer mix...dont know what to do, out of options???

  • we have 6 cats 2 full grown one female and one male and 4 kittens 2 male and 2 female . they are all family the the 2 adults are the parents to the 4 kittens . they are all litter trained and on hard food . in need of loving homes for them or a shelter that will not kill them and will adopt them out .

  • What kind of kittens are they? How old are they? I am looking for a kitten that is female. She will be a playmate for my adult female Siamese cat who loves other animals. We recently had to put our dog to sleep due to illness and old age and our cat is going crazy being alone. Thank you! Gina

  • I have to dogs who need a loving home. I am moving and I can not take them with me. Caco is female she is a cocpoo.sparkie is male 1yr jackrussel I got them from friend you has now past. The are very loving they need a good home Ty.

  • Cats for adoption here in Jackson county. About 10 or 15 that have lived indoors. Free to good homes. Both males and females.
