Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Canine Haven Rescue & Lost Dog Trapping is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization in Waterloo, Indiana. We are a foster-based dog rescue with a small shelter and sanctuary at the directors home. The home is located on 5 acres of hills, grass and woods. It has some walking paths through the woods that the dogs enjoy relieving built up energy from being in the kennels. We strive to provide interactive play yards and playgroups to socialize our dogs and puppies.
We pull dogs from high kill shelters all over the United States, owner surrenders and former breeding dogs. We get them into foster homes after they are completely vetted. Our vetting includes all age-appropriate shots, microchips, deworming, heartworm tests, heartworm treatment if needed, heartworm prevention, spay or neuter. We also take a lot of medical cases from diabetes, to heart problems, to surgical needs, bait dogs that would all be euthanized if we didnt step in.
We also do lost dog tracking and trapping in our county and surrounding areas. We make it our mission to get them home safely. We established feeding stations, video surveillance and set up humane live traps. If the dog does not have an owner then we bring them into rescue after the stray hold is up and get into the vet and then get them adopted. We help to educate, instruct and train the public at large on the value of spay and neuter to decrease the pet population and educate on proper animal care and responsibility. We help with vet assistance costs to those in need from our angel fund when our budget allows. We are working on opening the 1st pet food pantry in our county.
