Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

We are Okeechobee Countys only no-kill shelter. We receive no funds from state, county or city sources. Only you can make a difference – save a dog today!
Trail of Hope is Non-Profited founded by John and DeeDee Morris in Oct 2017.
Their mission to bring to Okeechobee and surrounding communities a quality, service-minded no-kill animal rescue where this shelter for the animals is as close to home as can be provided until they find them forever home. They provide quality food, medical care, socialization, mental enrichment, comfort, security and love to these neglected, abused, abandoned and surrendered dogs in their care. Through their tireless work and the assistance of their volunteers and foster families, theyve been able to save over 600 dogs to date.
Trail of Hope is only possible with the help of Volunteers and donations from both individuals and local businesses. Whether through Volunteering time, financial donations or some of the badly needed items required to keep the maintain the animals. Its 100% a labor of love.
Their long-range goal is to expand the rescue to be able to serve more animals and yet continue to provide them with the individual attention and love that they deserve. In the future, they hope to add a training program to assist adopters and animal owners with training their dogs to provide them with the skills, confidence, and knowledge to excel at life together.
