Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?

Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Founded in 1952, the Central Brevard Humane Society (CBHS) is Brevard County's oldest established animal welfare organization. A "no kill for space" shelter, CBHS is dedicated to speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. The Humane Society educates the community on responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals, advocates for spaying/neutering to reduce the homeless pet population and provides the best quality care to Brevard's abandoned animals by placing them with responsible, caring owners in "forever" homes.

  • This is NOT a No Kill shelter. Their website says they will euthanize if the animal can't be placed. This is a quote from their policies statement "Those animals which are unhealthy or aggressive or those that cannot be placed will be euthanized with dignity."

  • Wellness clinic office personel extremely rude. Wanted to make apptmt to spay my puppy. Was treated like I was terrible person and they don't do blood tests and you are risking your dog's well-being by using their services. Exam room for vaccines dirty, don't clean table so previous animal's hair and dander left for your pet to sit on.

  • This is NOT a no kill shelter!!! The first page says they don't kill for space but then go to their About Us page and it clearly says they do. They have even put down dogs that were getting adopted. It's almost like they enjoy it. Any little thing they can find to put down an animal they will. And they have such bad care most get sick there and then they kill them because they are sick. No Kill Brevard has been trying to work with them to stop the killing and has even presented ways to save the animals and raise money for them. The director said absolutely not and they refuse to work with them.
