Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Yes but the agency should be required to make sure that the director is dedicated and caring before they are hired. Many agencies hire anyone because it is hard to find someone who really cares about the animals and not just the pay check.

Shelters should be required to make every effort to locate the owner. Many shelters do not give the owner enough time to find the lost animal. Shelters seem to be to ready to kill rather than save.

But the public needs to be made more aware of the critical need for the volunteers by whatever means possible. People need to know the extent to which animals are being destroyed daily.

Yes and starting volunteer programs might help. Many people would volunteer to help to stop the useless killing.

True. One community in Lake county traps and turns over feral cats to be destroyed.

That would be great. Agencys need to understand that many older people would love to adopt an animal but with the high cost they will not.

I hope there will be more people willing to help save these animals.

If someone is willing to rescue the animal and give it a life why would anyone want to take that life from the animal?

I believe this will help eliminate unwanted animals and cats seem to be the least helped animals.

I think this is a great program as it will eliminate future unwanted kittens and yet stop the senseless killing of these defenseless animals.
