Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue has evolved from other basset rescues with a strong mission to rescue Basset Hounds in need of new homes, brought into foster homes, given any needed veterinary care (including spay/neuter), and adopted out to new homes. Most of the dogs we place are turned over to us by animal shelters throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and other areas because of overcrowded conditions. In some instances, we are contacted by a Basset Hound owner who must give up a pet because of a particular circumstance (allergies, moving, etc.), and seeks our help in finding a good home for the dog.
Rescue dogs come from all types of situations. When they end up in rescue, it is through no fault of their own. We in rescue believe that it is our responsibility to prevent these rescue dogs from being placed in another bad situation. Therefore, we screen applicants carefully: we do vet references, home checks, etc.
