Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in New Jersey
(report broken link)
Pet Rescue of Mercer is an all volunteer, not-for-profit animal 501 (c)(3) rescue group based in Mercer County, NJ. PRM rescues neglected, abused, and abandoned animals from local shelters by finding quality homes for them.
Sadly, the animals that are being routinely destroyed in Mercer County and around the country are not just the neglected or abused strays. Pets are abandoned when families move, landlords forbid animals, the pet has costly medical problems or circumstances simply change. PRM pulls animals from shelters to prevent unnecessary euthanasia and helps keep dogs and cats out of shelters by working directly with owners to rehome their pets.
PRM does not have a facility, so adoptable dogs and cats are placed into foster homes until they can be found permanent homes.
