Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Illinois
(report broken link)
Safe Haven is a county wide Humane Society supported entirely by community donations and dedicated volunteers. We place no time limit on the length of stay once a cat or dog has been accepted into our adoption program.
We believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of adoptable stray, unwanted, abused companion animals and the people who open their hearts and homes to them.
OUR MISSION
Safe Havens mission is to provide a temporary haven and treatment for adoptable cats and dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay/neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County.
Address:
1471 US Highway 20 West
Elizabeth, IL 61028-9461
