Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Paws Up is a no kill, all volunteer animal rescue organization serving Joliet Illinois and surrounding areas. We are dedicated and passionate about rescuing any animal from shelters where overcrowding may lead to euthanasia, as well as those suffering from abuse and/or neglect. We are a 100% foster based animal rescue meaning we rely on generous volunteers to take the animal into their home and care for them while they await their forever home. We are committed to providing our animals with the best care by helping them acclimate to life outside of a shelter and providing them with the necessary vet care. We also strive to help our community by educating the public about spaying and neutering, and by encouraging responsible pet ownership.
