Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

There is a lovely stray my daughter has been feeding for the last couple of days in Cornelius NC. As she will be leaving the area on Sunday, we are desperately trying to locate a trap/adoption service that will rescue the animal. The cat appears healthy but very thin. Please help!
Please help. My neighbor turned in the feral colony in our neighborhood to Animal Control in Iredell County. They tell me since I feed and provide shelter, they are my responsibility. I need to catch, spay/neuter and relocate about 15-20 and most are under 2 years old. They are beautiful cats and just need human contact and a place to live out their lives. Please help.
There is a dire need to re home 70-80 cats or they will be euthanized on Monday. These are all rescue cats and are up to date on shots and spayed/neutered.There are about 10 FIV+ cats as well. Please help or let me know who I can contact to help.
