Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Alabama
(report broken link)
Macon County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization established in 2003 in Macon County, Alabama.
It is an all volunteer organization, without a physical shelter, that uses a network of dedicated fosters to provide temporary care for local abandoned and suffering animals. We need more foster homes to provide a safe environment for the animals in our care until they are adopted (through our website and network of associated shelters). We are working on raising awareness in the community, seeking people to join us in raising funds to support this effort, or to be a foster caregiver. As a foster, all you have to supply is the love, safe home, water and food for these needy animals, we provide the veterinary care.
