Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Alabama
(report broken link)
We have a lofty, but achievable goal of saving all of Alabama’s homeless animals…by reducing the number of pets killed in shelters and by reducing the number of homeless pets on the streets in Alabama’s communities. All of them deserve our help!
The humans of A New Leash on Life have been working diligently to create a no-kill community in Huntsville. We have led the way with many life-saving programs that our city has embraced and successfully implemented, and Huntsville now has a live release rate of over 90%! Compare this to a less than 50% live release rate just a few years ago, and you see why we are so excited about it!
MISSION
Making the world a better place for homeless pets and the people who love them!
GOALS
* Reduce the number of homeless pets, by spaying and neutering ALL pets in our program, as well as others.
* Make a difference in the life of each animal we come in contact with.
* Provide medical assistance and foster care for abandoned, injured, or unwanted animals all over north Alabama.
* Educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering to put an end to pet overpopulation and euthanasia.
* Promote humane animal treatment in our community and elsewhere.
