Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Definitely! I personally saw the director take in a sick kitten. She is hoping the facility can give it the proper care to have it become a pet for someone. That is truly the ultimate in caring!

Petco adoption programs, Facebook, brochures, etc. make up some of their public relations. They do an excellent job of getting the word out about their facility.

My first adoption from Cats Bridge to Rescue had to be spayed. I found the fee to be very reasonable.

My second kitten adoption from Cats Bridge to Rescue had previously been a feral. Through continued socialization, she became such a sweet kitten!

I thought a shelter that checked kittens for hiv, leukemia, would be able to check out the kitten for possible other diseases. My kitten had fleas, giardia, and ringworm which is disgusting and I got it on my face. Sending these kittens that show no signs of illness at first sight into homes with other animals and children is a disgrace. My poor cat looks like he has cancer all over his face after I cleaned up the ringworm in his ears. I am so upset. Have spent so much money and could not keep the kitten because being feral, it was to wild to be around other cats. Apparently I am not the only one who has had this situation. according to yelp. It is one thing if you are told you are getting a sick animal, but not to say anything when there are other pets, children, ect in a household the pet you are sending to, something should be said about possible diseases you maybe bringing into your home. Horrible experience
