Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Cats R Us, Inc. (CRU) is a volunteer run nonprofit cat rescue organization located in the Annapolis, Maryland area. CRU's primary missions are to 1) spay and neuter community cats through our Trap, Neuter, Return-Monitor (TNR-M) program; 2) find "forever" homes through our foster care program for adoptable stray cats and kittens found while undertaking our TNR-M projects; and 3) educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering all cats to address the cat overpopulation problem in our area.
