Freedom Street Rescue
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Freedom Street Rescue is 501c3 animal rescue organization based in Texas. We are an entirely volunteer-based group of dog lovers that save dogs from the high-kill shelters in and around Houston, TX. We are able to have 99% of our dogs adopted out-of-state, and transport them to their new homes anywhere in the US and Canada. We are NOT a shelter that houses homeless dogs. We are 100% foster-home based.
We can only take dogs into our program when they have a committed foster to care for them until adoption. We expend whatever funds necessary to provide veterinary care to bring the dogs back to great health, and our adoption donations only cover a portion of the costs each dog has during their journey from shelter to their forever homes.

No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.
