Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Texas

We are a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter dedicated to providing homeless and/or unwanted dogs a second chance for a happy life through adoption. The Happy Day Humane Society was the vision of Margaret Lloyd and Dorothy Garrett who started the Howard County Humane Society in Big Spring many years ago on a shoestring budget to save neglected animals and provide a service to our community. Todays Happy Day Humane Society was their dream and we are fortunate to carry out their vision and continue to save many unfortunate animals in our community. We currently care for more than 100 dogs looking for a forever home.
