Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The Amarillo Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals believes that animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measure and are entitled to legal, moral, and ethical consideration and protection. Our mission is to be an advocate for animals and to defend their rights, to provide for the well-being of our communitys animals who are abandoned, injured, subjected to unfair or cruel treatment, or otherwise in need; to cultivate in our community an awareness of the animals whose world we share; to promote a bond of mutual assistance between people and animals; and to instill respect for and appreciation of all living things.

  • Hi my name is Debbie, My dog Tank went missing Dec 11th early morning. Amarillo TX.in the Southlawn area off 46th and Ong St. He is a 11 yrs old male mini Pomeranian has no collar but does have a chip. He is missed so much and scared for sure

  • Hello my name is Cheri Hooten we lost our Payton other 13th of Feb 2022 he is a beautiful White with a few big brown pots Pit Bull non aggressive and is A Major Lover Not A Fighter. he is a rescue dog have had him since he was about a yr old he is now probably about 9 or 10 very very good dog he talks to me all the time and even argued with me he also has a few brothers and sisters and they miss him very much mainly General his little Boston Terrier Brother... pleas Please if anyone has him or knows where he is if whomever you or they are and if you don't want to let him come home whatever the case may be I am Begging You Please Be Kind To Him And Take Good Care Of Him Is Is One In A Million!!!   • Hello my name is frank and my young indoor only calico cat slipped out 2nights ago and is lost. She is no chipped but has a grey flea collar. Very shy.
