Ay Chihuahua Rescue
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Our Mission: Focusing on high-risk Chihuahua breeds, supporting local shelters by maintaining a passionate and capable foster-to-adopt network. Providing education and support for prospective adopters throughout the process, from first look to forever home.
Ay Chihuahua Rescue is an all volunteer-operated, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of the Chihuahua breed. All our rescued dogs are placed into carefully chosen foster homes. These cherished families provide love, health and mental recuperative care in a safe environment so that our Chihuahuas can thrive while waiting for their forever families to find them. We are committed to helping you Nurture Your Inner Chi.
Our love of the Chihuahua breed urged us to action when the plea for a breed-specific rescue group was placed. Chihuahuas have the second highest euthanasia rate in Central Texas and it is our belief this is due to simple overpopulation and lack of education about the needs of this breed. We strive not only to rescue but to owner-educate and provide spay/neuter options when available. We are a lifelong resource for all dogs adopted through our program and sponsor monthly meetups through Chi Amigos for continuing education, socialization and assistance.
Our ever-growing volunteer base and cherished foster homes have provided us the opportunity to have a significant impact in the Central Texas community and we look forward to many years of saving lives!
