Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Virginia

Rainbow Animal Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, established to rescue and place unwanted animals in qualified, loving homes. Through education, we seek to create an animal-friendly community in the Tidewater area.
Rainbow was established in April 2005.
With support from Rainbow Animal Rescue, our foster families provide a safe, loving environment for rescues until they can find permanent homes.
Our animals are examined and vaccinated by a veterinarian and are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption whenever possible.
Our volunteers work to find quality, loving foster homes for unwanted animals to save them from unnecessary euthanasia.
We are entirely funded by fundraising and donations (financial, food, toys, etc). Our sole source of manpower is our volunteers.
