Barbi and Randy are the best people you would ever want to meet. Their Kindness and philanthropy exceeds far beyond the thousands of pets they help every year to families and people in need that they help, donate and share with. They are not wealthy, but they give all they have and often do without themselves. There are angels in heaven watching over these angels on earth.

Barbi, Randy and all of their volunteers and foster families take in as many pets as they can. If and when they are out of space, they offer to transport pets to facilities across the state who have room to take in the pets. That's above and betond. Please ignore the rating by Kristina Crawford - she is badmouthing the rescue because they would not adopt to her based on her pet history. Kristina Crawford has a personal ax to grind and should not be taken serously. Please pray for her mental illness and do not judge this rescue by her rantings.

Personally I cannot say enough about the awesome job Barbi and Randy S do in between working and their efforts to help many animals. This includes but not limited to constant recruiting new foster homes, new potential "furever homes", organizing off-site adoptions, organizing fundraisers, posting the CCPR-No Kill Facebook page needs of the organization and the animals in their care, and traveling many miles to pull animals from shelters or other rescues that have run out of room to ensure more animals find those new "furever homes". Barbi is definitely not a rescue director who sites behind a closed door, letting everyone else do the work or ignore the needs of other shelters/rescues that need help. She is sure sure one outstanding lady who puts the needs of these animals first wherever she can humanly possible can.

Coryell County Pet Rehoming offers deeply discounted microchip services for lost pets who have been returned to their families. They also offer to scan all found pets and do the leg work to get the pet back to their family. CCPR-No Kill does everything humanly possible to help by promoting the lost pet through various means including posting details and who to contact if pet wereabouts are known on a continuous bases til usually the pet is located or by chance someone finds a stray animal, first contacting CCPR-No Kill or taking the stray to a local veterinarian. Based on my knowledge at least 90-95% pets lost in this county have been found and returned to their owners.

CCPR-No Kill is ALL volunteer consisting of individuals who literally dedicate their lives and time to ensure abandoned/surrendered companion animals in their care find the right "furever home". It is awesome what these volunteers (founder, staff, foster homes) do many hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days each year. Best organized organization involved with animal Re-homing that I have been around over the years I have been involved with such organizations (40+ years).

CCPR-NO Kill founder and other volunteers are constantly working to keep these beloved furbabies under their care in the public eye via social media platforms, through their website, communicating with the community with off-site adoptions at very business locations not only within the local community but participating at off-site adoption events in other communities surrounding Gatesville TX.

CCPR-No Kill has established a working relationship with the area veterinarians to help them ensure these animals are healthy and get the necessary care if they come into the organization sick, injured, and other professionals (trainers, etc.) where an animal may be traumatized or at some point had been abused.

Barbi and Randy of CCPRNOKILL offer low cost boarding for military folks. It is their goal to help pet owners keep their pets. If there is a chance to help pet owners keep their pets instead of surrendering them, to the best of my knowledge the organization's will be there to help in many ways with suggestions, providing other possible resources where known who can also help. Over the past few years with the economy the way it is and so many people losing their jobs and houses due to foreclosure, unfortunately the first one in the family impacted can be the family pets.

CCPRNOKILL's adoption application is the most simple and comprehensive application I have ever filled out. They require a veterinarian reference and two personal references and they do walk through of your property with and without the pet. No 6-12 page application necassary. CCPR-No Kill volunteers are dedicated to ensure the companion animals in the organization's care are placed in caring and safe "furever homes" with responsible pet owners. These volunteers also spend their time and enegy in recuriting and screening potential adopters through off-site adoption events, other community events, and via social media. They also ensure that the companion animal being adopted out is full vetted either through the organization including but not limited to veterinarian checks, current on required shots, fecal and heartworm testing, and the animal is spayed/neutered and micro-chipped either by the organization or through written agreement that the adopter will care for and advise the organization in writing that certain things have been complete at the adopters expense. As an individual who only adopts shelter/rescue animals, CCPR-NO Kill has established a very comprehensive program making sure all bases are covered with proper paper trails, screening of potential adopters, doing follow-up, and promoting the companion animal needing a new "furever home" plus helping pet owners whose pet or pets have become missing by sharing this info through their social media venue.

I have fostered for Coryell County Pets Rehoming and I have adopted from Coryell County Pets rehoming. While fostering dogs for CCPRNOKILL - they supplied the food, the treats, the flea and heartworm prevention, and paid for all of the necessary vet visits. there was absolutely zero out of pocket expense to me. I just provided the love, training, and space to be until forever homes could be found. You won't find any other rescue tht is this responsible for th pets in their charge. Please ignore the rating by Kristina Crawford - she is badmouthing the rescue because they would not adopt to her based on her pet history. As someone who has fostered with CCPR-No Kill in Coryell County and fostered for another organizaiton in another state, have found the volunteers with this organization spend the time to ensure the companion animals in there care are placed in a loving and safe temp home until the pet or pets are placed in their new "furever home". They definitely do not just dump an animal in just anyone's home which is very important to ensure the animal or animals are properly care for and kept in a safe home environment. As I have learned the foster care giver volunteers in this organization are definitely responsible pet owners and do what they do because they care. I'm salute all of them and the excellent foster home program that CCPR-No Kill has established.

Barbi and Randy pull pets not only from the high kill shelters and pounds in Coryell county, but also from surrounding counties, they pick up lost and stray pets and they take in owner surrendered pets. They have hearts as big as Texas. Please ignore the rating by Kristina Crawford - she is badmouthing the rescue because they would not adopt to her based on her pet history. CCPRNOKILL has pulled pets from Brownwood, Bosque County, Gatesville, Killeen, Ft. Hood, Fort Worth, White Settlement, Bell County, McClennan Co, Hamilton County, San Antonia, Dallas, and so many more in their efforts to cut down on the senseless murders of healthy pets that takes place every day in Kill shelters.

This organization's founder (Barbi S) and many of their volunteers spend hours and travel many miles to help other organizations and shelters in pulling animals so they have a better chance of being re-homed in their current location. They definitely are willing to go above and beyond the norm and are constantly "walking the walk" to ensure many of this abandoned and surrendered animals find that perfect new "furever home".

1. Feral Cat TNR Program

Many communities are embracing Trap, Neuter, Release programs (TNR) to improve animal welfare, reduce death rates, and meet obligations to public welfare.

2. High-Volume, Low-Cost Spay/Neuter

Low cost, high volume spay/neuter will quickly lead to fewer animals entering the shelter system, allowing more resources to be allocated toward saving lives.

3. Rescue Groups

An adoption or transfer to a rescue group frees up scarce cage and kennel space, reduces expenses for feeding, cleaning, killing, and improves a community's rate of lifesaving. In an environment of millions of dogs and cats killed in shelters annually, rare is the circumstance in which a rescue group should be denied an animal.

4. Foster Care

Volunteer foster care is crucial to No Kill. Without it, saving lives is compromised. It is a low cost, and often no cost, way of increasing a shelter's capacity, improving public relations, increasing a shelter's public image, rehabilitating sick and injured or behaviorally challenged animals, and saving lives.

5. Comprehensive Adoption Programs

Adoptions are vital to an agency's lifesaving mission. The quantity and quality of shelter adoptions is in shelter management's hands, making lifesaving a direct function of shelter policies and practice. In fact, studies show people get their animals from shelters only 20% of the time. If shelters better promoted their animals and had adoption programs responsive to the needs of the community, including public access hours for working people, offsite adoptions, adoption incentives, and effective marketing, they could increase the number of homes available and replace killing with adoptions. Contrary to conventional wisdom, shelters can adopt their way out of killing.

6. Pet Retention

While some of the reasons animals are surrendered to shelters are unavoidable, others can be prevented-but only if shelters are willing to work with people to help them solve their problems. Saving animals requires communities to develop innovative strategies for keeping people and their companion animals together. And the more a community sees its shelters as a place to turn for advice and assistance, the easier this job will be.

7. Medical and Behavior Programs

In order to meet its commitment to a lifesaving guarantee for all savable animals, shelters need to keep animals happy and healthy and keep animals moving through the system. To do this, shelters must put in place comprehensive vaccination, handling, cleaning, socialization, and care policies before animals get sick and rehabilitative efforts for those who come in sick, injured, unweaned, or traumatized.

8. Public Relations/Community Involvement

Increasing adoptions, maximizing donations, recruiting volunteers and partnering with community agencies comes down to one thing: increasing the shelter's exposure. And that means consistent marketing and public relations. Public relations and marketing are the foundation of all a shelter's activities and their success. To do all these things well, the shelter must be in the public eye.

9. Volunteers

Volunteers are a dedicated "army of compassion" and the backbone of a successful No Kill effort. There is never enough staff, never enough dollars to hire more staff, and always more needs than paid human resources. That is where volunteers come in and make the difference between success and failure and, for the animals, life and death.

10. Proactive Redemptions

One of the most overlooked areas for reducing killing in animal control shelters are lost animal reclaims. Sadly, besides having pet owners fill out a lost pet report, very little effort is made in this area of shelter operations. This is unfortunate because doing so-primarily shifting from passive to a more proactive approach-has proven to have a significant impact on lifesaving and allow shelters to return a large percentage of lost animals to their families.

11. A Compassionate Director

The final element of the No Kill equation is the most important of all, without which all other elements are thwarted-a hard working, compassionate animal control or shelter director not content to regurgitate tired cliches or hide behind the myth of "too many animals, not enough homes." Unfortunately, this one is also oftentimes the hardest one to demand and find.
