The Heart of Rescue
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

We are a foster-based, 501(c)3 non-profit rescue located in Eugene and Portland, Oregon, plus Los Angeles, California. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home at-risk animals, primarily from the West Coast. We specialize in Rottweilers, but also welcome dogs of every breed and size. Plus the occasional cat.
Our dogs are mainly rescued from high-kill shelters in California, Oregon, and Washington. We are often their last hope. We also accept some owner-surrenders. The Heart of Rescue relies on adopters in Oregon, and Southern Washington to provide our babies with loving, “furever” homes.
