Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Columbia Humane Society (CHS) is a no-kill animal shelter located in St. Helens, Columbia County, Oregon.
Columbia Humane Society was established in 1985 to help displaced & neglected cats & dogs find new homes in Columbia County. We also promote awareness for the need to spay & neuter to humanely control animal population.
Columbia Humane Society is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who does not receive funding from any national or state animal welfare group or government agency. Our operations rely solely on income from our members, donors, small grants & fundraising events.
Columbia Humane Society is located in the Holsheimer-Lamar Animal Shelter, which has a capacity for approximately 30 dogs & 60 cats, including kittens.
