Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Minnesota
(report broken link)
The Hiawatha Animal Humane Society was established in 1971. We started out as a small organization having spay/neuter rebates available at local veterinary offices. In 2004, we reorganized and stared many new programs.
Some of our programs available are Seniors for Seniors, Pets for Vets, PAWS (Pet Adoption Without Surrender), and TNR (trap, spay/neuter, return). We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that relies on donations, memberships, and fundraising to allow us to help animals in need. While we do not have a facility, all of our available animals live in foster homes, with real families, while they wait to find their forever home!
