Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Minnesota
(report broken link)
Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved. In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt into the community over 500 dogs and cats every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.
CSHS focuses on serving and saving pets in our local communities. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout Minnesota. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
While we are a foster-based animal rescue, we do have a cat adoption space at our Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Dons Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.
