Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Minnesota
(report broken link)
Grant County Humane Society was founded on April 13, 1998 by a group of caring individuals who saw the need to provide a safe place for homeless and lost animals to reside until new homes were found or their owners reclaimed them. For the first 9 years, animals were placed in various foster homes until adopted or reclaimed.
In 2007, a large monetary donation from Joan Fjoslien, along with several business and individual contributions, helped GCHS reach their goal for a building fund and allowed for the purchase of a building on the east side of Elbow Lake where animals could be housed. Joan and her husband, Dave, lived and farmed south of Brandon from 1996 until Daves death in 2004. Both had a lifelong love of animals, especially dogs. In Joans words, “Dogs were special to us, and it gives me a good feeling to know that they will be well cared for in the new Grant County Humane Society building.” GCHS is forever grateful to Joan Fjoslien for her generous contribution.
GCHS is a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded entirely by memberships, donations, grants, fundraisers, and adoption fees. We are a no-kill animal shelter.
