Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Midland County Pit Stop is a foster based rescue, centered in Midland, MI. Since 2018, we have helped over 800 pets. We are diligent about placing our pets with new families and because of that, our return rate is less than 1%.
Midland County Pit Stop rescues animals, coordinates adoptions, temporary foster care and rehomes pets.
We partner with our commUnity on all things animal, be it rescuing guinea pigs from the cemetery to finding a kitten in the carwash to that dog that was neglected and now has a loving family. That's Us! We are there to help any way we can.
