Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Michigan

Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is a volunteer run, nonprofit group whose primary mission is to rescue and rehome Weimaraners in the Great Lakes region - including MI, OH, IL, IN and WI. We work very hard to find our dogs the best home & environment so they thrive.
GLWR is foster-based, without a traditional physical kennel facility like many humane societies or animal shelters. Our dogs are typically housed in homes and cared for by foster families until a forever home is found. Therefore, our process to adopt and meet dogs may be different than a normal animal control facility, humane society or shelter.
