Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Harbor Humane Society’s mission is to provide a safe harbor for animals entrusted to our care as we strive to secure their future through our outreach and educational programs.
We have been helping people help animals since 1956. By increasing the literacy of the humane treatment of animals, promoting responsible pet ownership and serving as a care facility for lost and unwanted pets. In 2015, Harbor Humane Society officially took on the responsibility and the duties of a no-kill animal shelter. We proudly maintain the highest standards of care for each individual animal that comes through our door and place animals that are medically and behaviorally healthy or treatable, according to nationally recognized practices, in to loving homes via adoption, foster, or transfer. By not having a time limit for the homeless animals temporarily in our care, we are able to match the animal with the perfect family, ensuring the family and animal make a connection. A lasting one.
