Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

My wife has congestive heart failure and has recently been diagnosed with sarcoidosis of the heart. during her care she had to see a pulmonologist. My wife also has asthma!!
The pulmonologist had allergy testing done as cat dander is very bad for asthma patients. She tested very high for cat dander 2.88. we are considering giving our LittleOne to you at some point soon. he is about 8 years old, neutered, cared for by Jed Barnes @ the Bradford pet clinic in Olathe for all the while we have had him. What would be our next step in the process. We are willing to give whatever donation is required, just would want him to get a good home.
