We are a 501(c)(3) rescue dedicated to helping dogs in the Mahoning and Trumbull county and the surrounding areas.

OUR MISSION: It started with one dog. That first dog that left the first paw prints on our hearts. We do this in honor of all the dogs we have ever loved. They live on though an ongoing legacy of love.


Legacy Dog Rescue has two main purposes. First is rescue. We take dogs from many places - pounds, strays, owner surrenders, etc. We place them in foster homes where they are completely vetted, and we get to know them. We rehab where necessary, and work with them, sometimes thru training classes, before looking for their forever home. We can tell you all about the dogs in our foster homes, as they live with their fosters, not in a kennel setting.

The second purpose is what we call community service. Our spay/neuter program is very close to our hearts. We believe by focusing on spaying and neutering we are helping reduce the dogs that could be sent to the pound. We eliminate the problem, before it happens. We also will assist financially to both dog owners and other rescues when possible. We have offered a food assistance program since 2011, to help pet owners that are struggling to feed their pets due to economic hardship. Both of these programs are available as finances allow.
