Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Louisiana
(report broken link)
Saving Paws of Caldwell was started in April 2011 by Deborah Wilson and Donna Pardue. They began under the Louisiana Humane Society. By summer 2012 they incorporated and became Saving Paws of Caldwell. They set out to rescue animals in the parish that were being abandoned and abused. It took them a year to get the funds together to build a shelter at the Caldwell Correctional Center. That shelter was quickly too small and additional kennels had to be built. It remains full to this day. At the end of 2015 SPC finally got their 501(c)3 status.
2016 has brought about a lot of changes. SPC now has their adoptable dogs on Petfinders.com as well as other sites. One of the new programs of SPC is the SVT program. The SVT program allows low income Senior Citizens, Disabled Veterans and those needing Therapy Dogs to adopt mature dogs from the shelter that have been spayed/neutered without an adoption fee. SPC just began their low cost spay/neuter program that will help those that can’t pay full price for the operation. You can apply online or pick up an application at PFC Feeds, O’Neal Gas, Caldwell Animal Clinic and Caldwell Parish Library. We hope to begin a low cost wellness program that will help those that can’t afford regular vet care very soon.
