Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!
No-kill shelters do wonderful work, but as a result, are often inundated with pet surrenders. In the unfortunate scenario that you have to find a new home for your pet, please read through the rehoming solution and articles on this page before contacting the shelter.

Desperately need to re home senior cat. Her name is Emma. She was left behind when her owner moved to Arkansas and could not have her. She approximately 8-9 yrs old....I do not know her vet history...but I think she is spayed. Absolutely adorable. I have 4 dogs and another female cat and cannot keep her...She is shy and a tad skiddish until she warms up...appears healthy and I will have her vetted before she goes to her forever home...I wish I could keep her but hubby says NO...

Desperately need to find home for fixed, 12 year old female, part Siamese, indoor cat. She does have her claws. She is very affectionate and talkative. She was my husband's late dad’s cat and the house has been sold. She has always been an only cat and would not adapt well to our herd. This is fairly urgent as house must be vacated by Sept. 21. She is just lovely and I hate to see her go to a shelter.
Hi there, I'm Sherie Weedman & I'm seeking a special kitten to bring home! Would love a calico, but not that picky! But I do want a female! Males tend to run away; well so I've heard. Can't wait to hear from you!
Hi. If you don't have your kitten yet Elmo it should be very easy to find one, either by going to a shelter or by going online where the shelters list available pets. I don't know where you are but your local shelter should have plenty of kittens and unless thy are no kill shelters, they will be in danger of being put to sleep. Hope this helps.
