The House of Mews
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The House of Mews is Memphis' and the U.S.' first and oldest no-kill, legal cathouse. We rescue cats from local kill shelters, allow them to freely roam our store, and have found loving homes for over 10,000 kitties from 1994 to 2020.
Our mission’s success relies fully on our 20+ volunteers from all walks of life and your donations. The House of Mews oversees over $150,000 yearly in donations. These include services, goods, and sales, plus our four major fundraisers. The donations we receive allow us to provide the necessary daily care for our cats as well as medical services such as spay/neuter and leukemia aids testing.
