Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Welcome to the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (M.A.M.A.S.) website. We are a private 501c3 nonprofit shelter/rescue formed in 2001 by a small group of local people concerned about animal welfare in Bamberg County, South Carolina, and beyond.
M.A.M.A.S. is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of animals. We are a No-Kill facility that depends mostly on donations to care and find homes for those in our charge. Only one of the five towns within our county has an animal control officer and with our limited resources, we are unable to pick up animals so the ones we have are brought to us by people who find strays or owners who give them up. Bamberg County Council supplies a very small percentage of our funding so we are dependent upon donations from friends of the shelter and the general public.
Mailing Address:
254 Slow Pitch Road
Bamberg, SC 29003
