RSPCA South Yorkshire Animal Centre (Bawtry)
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The South Yorkshire Animal Centre has been operational since 1965, when it was run and controlled by the Doncaster with Thorne and District Branch. The branch amalgamated with the Rotherham Branch in 1998 and is now the RSPCA Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch. The branch is controlled by the elected Trustees who are volunteers and three appointed officers from the Trustees, the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. Direction and support is provided by the national society, the Regional Manager and the Branch Support Specialist. The branch is also supported by over 250 local members. The animal centre, is granted an annual license by the national society.
The centre is principally for re-homing, providing care to inspectorate case animals and short-term accommodation for a wide range of animals available for re-homing or waiting to be released. Although the branch manage and operate the centre adhering strictly to the National RSPCAs standard of animal care and the operating licence by the national society, the branch receives no financial support from the society or from central or local government, as the Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch operates as an independent and autonomous charity. A non euthanasia policy is operated by the animal centre and animals are only euthanased on vets advice.
