Basset Rescue Crew of the Southeast
Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The Basset Rescue Crew of the Southeast (BaRCSE) was incorporated in 2009 in South Carolina. We received 501(c)3 non-profit status from the IRS in March 2010. We are entirely volunteer staffed and managed. Our goal is to become a multi-state rescue with volunteers and contacts throughout the Southeast that has the ability to safely transport and re-home needy basset hounds wherever they will find a loving home. Our focus will first and foremost be rescuing and providing necessary medical care to hounds who are in jeopardy of being euthanized. We will foster each hound and determine their unique personality; then our focus will be to find an appropriate, loving, forever home for each of our homeless bassets. We are also hoping to build a quality educational format to educate the public and potential basset hound owners about the unique personalities and needs of basset hounds along with educating the public about the necessity of spaying/neutering their pets. Our “political” environment includes input from everyone involved with this rescue. Our members have voting rights, and our intent is to have total transparency between rescue “management” and all of the members. We are working on a very ambitious strategic plan and have set some very lofty goals for ourselves, but each goal is very attainable when we have a group of like-minded people who just want to save as many hounds as we can and place them in good, loving homes.
