Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

The mission of the Cumberland Animal Control division is to protect the health and safety of our residents, and to protect animals and promote their humane treatment.
Through collaboration with our community partners, Cumberland Animal Control prevents animal cruelty, protects public health and safety from dangerous animals, provides humane care to abused and neglected animals, educates the public about responsible pet ownership, and gives adoptable animals a second chance at a forever home.
Cumberland Animal Control has adopted a no-kill philosophy, and will make every effort to promote pet adoptions of healthy, non-aggressive animals to the general public.
