Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Our priority is to find the best possible home for our dogs and cats. We are a NO kill shelter.
The Jackson County Humane Society is a no-kill shelter. Besides saving local dogs and cats, dogs and cats are saved throughout the country with our "Saving Death Row Dogs & Cats" programs and transports. Where dogs and cats from high kill shelters from across the nation are transported to JCHS to find loving homes. Dogs and cats will remain and be taken care of (walking, socializing, all vet care, food, water, shelter) until they are adopted. Founded in 1974, the Jackson County Humane Society advocates the humane treatment of animals and find permanent loving homes for the cats and dogs in our care. We are a non-profit organization that relies mostly on the generosity of compassionate people donating time, money, and their professional services at the shelter, at adoption fairs, and working at or hosting fundraising events. Being a non-profit your donations are tax deductible. Any kind of help and all donations would be greatly appreciated.
