Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

We are the Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake (AKA Humane Society of Grove and Grand Lake, Inc.), a 501 ( c ) 3 not-for-profit, private animal shelter, established in 1984 and governed by a Board of Directors. We are not affiliated with any national group and we do not receive any city, state or federal government funding.
Our goal is to provide a caring, safe, and loving environment for abused and abandoned dogs and cats in our community. We are a life-saving shelter that houses approximately 80 dogs and 75 cats and are usually at capacity.
The pet overpopulation problem in our community is an ongoing concern. Our low cost spay and neuter clinics are one way we try to address this problem. All of our animals are spayed or neutered shortly after they enter the shelter.
