Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Adoptable Pets in Arkansas

After rescuing my first dog, a Schnauzer named Mini, in 1996 from ditch in Jacksonville, then mentoring other rescues for nearly 10 years, serving on board of directors and various volunteer positions, I kept my feet grounded to the very principals of quality care and gold standards learned from various sources. GDAR became an official 501(c)3 rescue on May 12th, 2015. GDAR takes in homeless, abandoned and owner surrender animals as space permits. We take pride in caring for our animals. They are rehabilitated, fully vetted, spayed or neutered, put on Heartworm prevention and microchipped before adoption.
