Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Welcome to the Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, better known as MOAS. We have been in existence since 2002. MOAS was originally conceived as a solution to the stray animal population in Madison and Oglethorpe counties, and we still serve that role today by accepting all strays and unwanted dogs and cats from Madison and Oglethorpe County residents.
Our mission is to save as many pets as possible while reducing the unwanted pet population through a low-cost spay and neuter clinic operated out of the shelter. We take our role seriously, and we are excited about the many community initiatives that we are able to offer to assist in reducing pet overpopulation and to provide better care for family pets.
