Circle of Friends Animal Society

Circle of Friends Animal Society was founded in February 2007 by a small group of experienced rescuers who wanted to do things a little different. We wanted to be able to help animals that other rescue groups couldn’t or wouldn’t take because they had a health condition or because they might take a little longer to adopt out because of their breed, age, etc. We did not want to walk away from a dog because he was heartworm positive or from a cat because she had an eye infection. Nor did we want to rescue only puppies or kittens or only small purebred dogs or take a litter of puppies or kittens but leave the mother behind at animal control. There were eight of us originally – hence the 8 hearts in the circle of the logo. We started with a very small budget, doing adoptions on Sundays at Pet Supplies Plus in Athens. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
