RSPCA York Animal Home

We are a branch of the RSPCA, one of the best known charities in the UK, but they don’t fund us. All the money that we spend in York has to be raised in York. That is why all donations are so badly needed. Caring for lost and abandoned animals, paying our staff of 20, maintaining the buildings and providing a subsidised veterinary clinic for the pets of disadvantaged people is very expensive and we want to make sure that we can still be here in years to come.

We need at least £1400 every day just to keep going. We need to ensure that we are efficient and use our hard-earned funds in the most effective way possible. Ensuring that we do this is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees and our Branch Manager, Angela Hunter. We have a team of staff and volunteers caring for our animals. There are also two staff in our charity shop in Gillygate, York.
