Woof! Meow! One thing before you go…
Do you need to find a loving home for your pet?
Shelters are often inundated with pet surrenders, and do not want to provide a simple outlet that takes away the obligation of responsible pet ownership. Therefore, they would prefer that people try hard to find a solution before resorting to surrendering their pet to a shelter. If you must find a new home for a pet, please try posting to our adoption portal before placing the burden on the shelter. Direct adoptions work well and allow everyone to share in the accountability of their community!

Canberra Pooch Rescue (CPR) is made up of a group of independant rescuers in Canberra and Queanbeyan, Australia, who primarily save dogs and cats from euthanasia. Our animals are rescued from death row at pounds and shelters, and we focus on rescuing animals that other groups cannot take.
The dogs and cats are fostered in our own homes until we find them new forever homes.
Whilst in our care the dogs are treated as part of the family and we show them new things that they may not have experienced before, like car rides, meeting cats and children and discovering other dogs. We also endeavor to teach them basic manners and toilet training if necessary.
