The story of "Penelope" in Wisconsin

{UPDATE: Found!} ❤️❤️❤️ She’s home!!! After eight days! I cannot believe I’m typing this right now, but Penelope came home! 😀 Tonight my friend Beth and I really searched and walked the neighborhood, about a four to five house radius, calling her name and searching backyards, under bushes, in trees, etc. 👀🕵🏻‍♀️🕵🏻‍♀️ We saw a handful of other cats but no signs of Penelope. At about 1:45 AM, I awoke to the sound of our live trap closing via the baby monitor. These last few days have been discouraging, not having any sightings of her, so I figured it was probably a raccoon or another neighbors cat. I lifted the blanket up and saw white fur and then her red spots and yelled to Adam “It’s her! Oh my gosh it’s her- we got her!” ❤️❤️❤️ I was absolutely shocked! She was extremely scared. 🙁 Just a side note: 😂 if you ever catch your cat in a trap, you should bring the trap inside before opening it 🤦🏻‍♀️ All the websites and advice etc I received 😂🤪 no one mentioned that. Adrenaline was in full effect and we were so excited to see her we weren’t thinking and opened the cage where it was on the porch. 🙃 THANKFULLY we were both there because being so scared, she tried to dart away after the cage opened and I reached down as she tried to escape and only got ahold of the very tip of her tail! 😳 She bit my palm, my elbow and my foot while we were wrestling, trying to get a good grip on her. Adam got ahold of her scruff and I put a blanket over her and we just both squeezed and walked into the house with her. 🙌🏻 We put her in our bathroom and after a couple minutes peeked in to find her in the sink, still very scared. 🐾 We hung out in the bathroom for about fifteen minutes and Stella 🐶 came in to say hi too and she’s been purring away ever since! 😍 She feels a bit lighter, but otherwise looks great! I plan to take her to the vet tomorrow to have her looked over and I’ll go to the doc to get some antibiotics for myself. 🙃 I’m so thankful to everyone who helped bring Penelope home. 💕 All the fb shares, kind words, phone calls and texts... I am so grateful! This last week has been so emotionally draining and I couldn’t have done it without you all! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
